In 2026, the Italian lighting brand unveils a special edition developed in collaboration with the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay in Paris<\/strong> to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the museum’s opening<\/strong> following the renovation of its interiors. The collaboration is far from coincidental, as both the Pipistrello and the museum’s transformation bear the signature of Gae Aulenti<\/strong>, the Italian architect who designed the lamp back in 1965.<\/p>\n

This new edition of the Pipistrello<\/strong> brings together two of Aulenti’s most celebrated works: the lamp originally designed for the Olivetti showroom in Paris and the transformation of the former Orsay railway station into one of the world’s leading museums. A special edition inspired by the architecture of the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay<\/h2>\n

The special edition of the Pipistrello<\/a> features an exclusive finish inspired by an architectural detail found inside the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay. The aluminium cone and adjustment knob are finished in a distinctive green shade inspired by this feature of the museum, while the diffuser retains its signature opal white methacrylate, complemented by a satin-finished stainless steel telescopic stem and a chrome-plated base and ring. As a mark of this collaboration, the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay and Martinelli Luce<\/strong> logos are engraved on the base of the lamp.<\/p>\n

The collection is available in three sizes<\/strong>, as well as in a cordless portable version<\/strong>, all equipped with integrated 2700K LED technology<\/strong>, preserving the essence of the original design while adapting it to contemporary living.<\/p>\n

Gae Aulenti: the creative force behind design and architecture<\/h2>\n

The connection between the Pipistrello and the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay goes back decades. Long before transforming the former Paris railway station into the museum we know today, Gae Aulenti<\/strong> had already made her mark on international design with the creation of the Pipistrello.<\/p>\n

An architect, designer and set designer, Aulenti built a career defined by projects that brought together architecture, interiors and industrial design. Among her most notable works are the renovation of the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay (1980\u20131986), projects for the Centre Pompidou, the refurbishment of Palazzo Grassi in Venice and Milan’s Piazza Cadorna, establishing her as one of the leading figures of 20th-century Italian design.<\/p>\n

This special edition brings together two defining works from Aulenti’s legacy, celebrating the close relationship between architecture, design and culture.<\/p>\n
